Jean Pierre-Melville is the king of the French gangster movie and was an inspiration for the New Wave directors of the late 50’s and 60’s who were inspired by his use of location and use of natural light. Melville worked with Jean Cocteau on the legendary film Les Enfant Terrible and made a host of super slick crime films. These films contain classic heists, robberies and super cool fugitives played by cult French actors such as Delon and Belmondo. What more could you possibly want?
